Rays are bent twice — entering and leaving the stone — using Snell's law at the surface normal, then used to sample the environment behind it.
Red, green and blue are refracted at three slightly different indices, which is what separates white light into colour at the facets.
The stone is a signed distance field — an octahedron intersected with a sphere — raymarched in 96 steps per pixel. No mesh, no model file.
